Austin, TX – What started as a promising connection through an online dating platform turned into a real-life horror story for one woman after she invited a man into her home — only to discover his true nature hours later.

The unnamed woman, in her early 30s, had spent several weeks chatting with a man she met on a dating app. According to her account, their conversations had been respectful and emotionally engaging. He presented himself as thoughtful, family-oriented, and eager to find someone serious. Feeling reassured, she eventually extended an invitation to her home for a casual dinner.

“I took every precaution I thought I should,” she said. “We FaceTimed a few times. He seemed safe — even kind.”

When the man arrived, everything initially felt comfortable. They cooked dinner together, shared stories about their childhoods, and sipped wine while listening to jazz. But as the evening wore on, the mood shifted drastically.

“He started asking invasive questions — like who my ex was, why we broke up, whether I still talked to him,” she recalled. “Then he got very quiet. The energy just changed.”

The man’s demeanor reportedly grew tense and suspicious. At one point, he began looking through her living room shelves and scrutinizing photos. The woman asked him if something was wrong, to which he replied cryptically, “I just want to know everything about you.”

Feeling deeply uncomfortable, she calmly told him the evening was over and asked him to leave. That’s when things took a darker turn.

“He told me he wasn’t going anywhere. That he felt we were meant to be together. That I owed him more time,” she said.

Frightened but careful not to provoke him, she excused herself under the pretense of needing the restroom and used the opportunity to text a close friend with a coded phrase they had previously agreed upon for emergencies. Her friend immediately called the police.

When officers arrived, they found the man still seated on her couch. He initially refused to leave but complied after a brief conversation with police. He was not arrested, but the woman filed a report for trespassing and emotional harassment.

“I haven’t been able to sleep since,” she admitted. “It felt like something out of a psychological thriller.”

She has since deleted the dating app and encourages others to be extra vigilant when meeting people online.
