Minnesota Husband Confirms He Is Still Married to Wife Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Teens

The husband of a Minnesota woman convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage hockey players has broken his silence on their marriage, confirming the couple remains together following the scandal.

Allison Schardin, 40, made headlines in early 2024 after engaging in sexual misconduct with two 15-year-old athletes during a family staycation. Now, nearly two years after the incident, her husband, Anthony, has publicly addressed the status of their relationship, leaving many stunned by his decision to stay.

A Night at the Hotel

The case, which shocked the local community and sent shockwaves through the hockey world, began on January 14, 2024. While staying at a hotel in Roseville, Minnesota, Schardin encountered the teenage athletes—who were traveling from Colorado for a tournament—in the facility’s hot tub.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law & Crime, the interaction began with seemingly casual conversation before Schardin allegedly began making explicit sexual advances toward the minors. Despite the victims later telling investigators they did not know how to “say no” to an adult, the situation escalated further when Schardin allegedly followed the teens to their rooms.

An Unusual Response

Following her arrest and subsequent guilty plea to third-degree criminal sexual conduct, Schardin was sentenced in January 2025 to two weekends in jail, community service, and five years of probation. She was also required to register as a sex offender.

In a recent interview regarding the fallout of the conviction, Anthony Schardin, 52, was asked if he and his wife were still together. His answer was brief and direct: “Yes.” He further added that the couple is currently focused on keeping their lives “under the radar” as they move forward from the highly publicized case.

What We Know

The Conviction: Allison Schardin pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The Victims: Two 15-year-old hockey players visiting Minnesota for a tournament.

The Sentence: Two weekends of jail time, community service, and five years of supervised probation.

Current Status: Anthony Schardin confirmed he remains married to his wife despite the criminal record.

A Complex Question of Loyalty

The decision to remain married after such a significant betrayal of public trust and safety has sparked a broader conversation about private loyalty versus public accountability. While many outsiders find the reconciliation difficult to comprehend, legal experts often note that the dynamics within marriages—even those shattered by criminal acts—are intensely complex and rarely visible to the public eye.

As Schardin continues her five-year probation period, the family remains a focal point for those questioning the boundaries of forgiveness and the lasting impact of sexual assault cases on the families of the perpetrators.

For the victims and their families, however, the legal resolution of the case in 2025 serves as the only definitive closure to a night that forever changed their lives.
