Spanish Matador Iván Fandiño Fatally Gored During French Bullfight

Aire-sur-l’Adour, France – Veteran Spanish matador Iván Fandiño tragically died after being gored by a bull during a bullfighting event in southwestern France. The 36-year-old, known for his daring style and willingness to face the most formidable bulls, suffered fatal injuries after tripping over his cape in the ring.

The incident occurred at the Aire-sur-l’Adour bullring, where Fandiño was participating in a festival. While executing a maneuver, he stumbled, and the bull seized the opportunity to gore him in the torso. The horn punctured several vital organs, including his lungs, leading to severe internal bleeding.​

As he was being transported to the hospital, Fandiño reportedly uttered his final words: “Hurry up, I’m dying.” Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries en route.​

Fandiño’s death marks the first fatality of a matador in France in nearly a century, highlighting the inherent dangers of bullfighting. The incident has reignited debates over the practice, with animal rights advocates calling for its abolition, while supporters view it as a cultural tradition.​
