Newly Re-Examined Ocean Microphone Data Challenges Everything Known About Flight MH370

Deep below the Indian Ocean, autonomous microphones recorded the sounds of the sea on the night Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared. Over a decade later, scientists and independent researchers are re-evaluating those forgotten audio files.

Remaining sensors survived. From those surviving units, Royer cataloged several acoustic anomalies recorded in the early hours of March 8, 2014.

The Sound of an Impact
A peer-reviewed study by Dr. Usama Kadri of Cardiff University confirmed that high-mass aircraft impacts generate powerful underwater pressure waves. These acoustic signals travel thousands of miles through the ocean’s sound-fixing channel.

Kadri’s mathematical modeling showed that a violent, high-speed crash into the sea produces unmistakable acoustic markers. Yet, international monitoring stations near the 7th Arc detected only a faint, low-frequency signal that officials previously categorized as seismic noise.

Researchers argue that the type of impact dictated what hydrophones heard. A steep, high-velocity dive would create massive sound waves across ocean basins. Conversely, a controlled ocean ditching would produce a far quieter acoustic footprint.
