In a grand celebration that blended royal tradition with modern elegance, Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark, godson of the late Princess Diana, wed Swiss heiress Nina Flohr in a religious ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens on October 23, 2021.
A Trilogy of Celebrations
The Athens ceremony marked the couple’s third wedding celebration. Their journey began with an intimate civil ceremony in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on December 12, 2020, attended only by their fathers due to COVID-19 restrictions. This was followed by a private celebration in Cambridge, England, in May 2021.
A Historic Venue
The choice of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens held deep significance. It was the first royal wedding at the cathedral since Prince Philippos’s parents, King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie, married there in 1964.
A Star-Studded Guest List
The ceremony was attended by a host of European royals, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie of York, Queen Sofia of Spain, and Princess Benedikte of Denmark.
The Bride’s Attire
Nina Flohr, now Princess Nina of Greece and Denmark, wore a custom Chanel gown from the 2021 Autumn/Winter Couture Collection. She complemented her ensemble with the Antique Corsage Tiara, a family heirloom featuring diamonds and pearls, previously worn by Queen Anne-Marie and Princess Marie-Chantal.
A Royal Legacy
Prince Philippos, born in London in 1986, is the youngest child of King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie. He is also the godson of Princess Diana, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, and Princess Benedikte of Denmark.
