From Slacker to Superstar: How My $6,500 Bull Found His Mojo

When I shelled out $6,500 for a registered Black Angus bull, I had high hopes he’d take charge of the herd and boost productivity. Instead, he turned into a four-legged freeloader. While the cows waited, he spent his days lounging in the pasture, munching grass without a care in the world. Not even a hint of interest in the ladies. Week after week, I watched him loaf around, and the sinking feeling in my gut told me I’d blown a small fortune on a pasture potato.

Worried I’d bought a dud, I called the vet for a check-up. After a quick once-over, the vet assured me the bull was in good shape—just a bit young and maybe lacking drive. Then, almost as an afterthought, he handed me a small bottle and said, “Try giving him one of these a day. Let’s see if it kicks things into gear.” With nothing left to lose, I figured, why not?

I gave him the first pill that evening. By the second day, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. That lazy bull transformed overnight. He was fired up, full of energy, and very suddenly… motivated. He wasted no time making his rounds — and then some. Not only did he cover my entire herd, but he also plowed right through the fence and marched straight into my neighbor’s pasture like he owned the place.

It was as if someone had flipped a switch. One day he was couch potato, the next he was a one-bull breeding operation on overdrive. He was relentless — a true working man now, and then some.

I still don’t know what those mystery pills contained, though they had a strong whiff of peppermint. Whatever was in them worked like a charm. My fields are now full of expectant cows, I’ve got a bull with unstoppable energy, and — well — a neighbor who’s a little less than thrilled about the unexpected visitors. But hey, sometimes all it takes is the right push to turn a dud into a legend.
